KIORY唔係由生意開始，係由一本屋企嘅書開始。我哋坐低慢慢傾，錄低佢由細到大嘅故仔，先發現：相會褪色，字會舊，但把聲一響，好似佢就坐喺隔籬。KIORY didn't start as a business. It started with one book for my own family. We sat down, talked slowly, recorded her stories from childhood on, and I understood: photos fade, words age, but the moment her voice plays, she's sitting right next to you.

長輩故事書係咩？What is a Kiory book?
一本用你屋企長輩自己把聲做出嚟嘅長輩故事書。佢講，我哋寫成中英對照嘅章節，每一句金句隔籬印住一個QR，一掃就聽返佢親口講嗰句。穿線精裝、無酸紙、不褪色顏料墨，係一本可以傳過百年嘅實體書，唔係相簿。A life story book made from an elder's own spoken memories. They talk, we write it into bilingual chapters, and a QR code printed beside every quoted line plays the original recording of them saying it. Smyth-sewn, acid-free paper, pigment ink: a physical book built to last over a hundred years, not a photo album.
實際點做？How does it actually work?
兩個方法，你揀啱佢嗰個。你自己問佢：題庫喺你部電話度，分咗唔同主題，你可以揀，亦可以自己寫，你坐喺佢隔籬，或者喺天涯海角打個電話返嚟都一樣得，佢淨係要開口講，唔使有智能電話，咩都唔使裝。或者佢自己答：如果佢用開手機，我哋send問題畀佢，之後快慢由你哋話事，一個下晝答晒幾條最爽，想慢慢嚟一個禮拜一條都冇問題。一條問題兩三分鐘就夠。答夠咗就成書，印刷之前你逐頁睇過同批准。Two ways, whichever suits them. You interview them: the question library is on your phone, sorted by theme, and you pick from it or write your own, and you sit beside them, or you call from the other side of the world and it works exactly the same, because all they have to do is talk, with no smartphone and nothing installed. Or they answer alone: if they are comfortable on a phone we send the questions over, and the pace after that is yours, several in one afternoon if they are on a roll, or one a week if you would rather take your time. Two or three minutes per question is plenty. When enough questions have been answered you have the book, and you review the proof page by page before anything prints.
我阿媽唔識用電腦，得唔得？My mother is not good with technology. Does that matter?
得。佢唔使學任何新嘢。佢用返平時同你講嘢嗰個方法答就得，撳兩下錄音。真係唔想自己錄嘅話，你坐喺佢隔籬幫佢錄都一樣得。It does not. There is nothing for them to learn. They answer the way they already talk to you, in two taps. And if they would rather not record at all, you can sit beside them and record it yourself instead.
佢話「有咩好講啫」，唔肯講點算？What if they say they have nothing worth telling?
幾乎個個一開口都係咁講，跟住講咗兩個鐘。所以我哋唔會叫佢「錄自己嘅故事」，嗰個係大工程，冇人開得到頭。我哋畀你一條好具體嘅問題，例如「你細個住嗰間屋係點樣㗎？」，佢答嘅時候唔覺自己喺度做緊一件大事。Almost everyone opens with exactly that line, and then talks for two hours. Which is why we never ask anyone to record their life story: that is a project, and nobody starts a project. You get one very concrete question instead, something like what was the flat you grew up in like, and answering it never feels like a big undertaking.

The Heirloom Edition is HK$1,980 in cloth with foil stamping, a photograph tipped in on the cover and a sewn binding. The story, the photographs, the voice QR beside every quote and the bilingual text are identical in both: what changes is the object. 啲錄音同相會唔會外流？What happens to the recordings and photos?
係你哋屋企嘅，唔會賣，唔會分享畀第三方，你叫停就刪。QR連結唔會俾人估到，亦都唔會俾搜尋器收錄，所以一個陌生人係搵唔到、抄唔到佢把聲。They stay yours. We do not sell them and we do not share them with third parties, and we delete them if you ask. The QR links cannot be guessed and are not indexed by search engines, so a stranger cannot find or scrape their voice.
